CHANNEL UPDATE: Class Reviews are coming!
There is no more double sigils for DH
Yep! This video was made before that nerf came in.
I like bear simply because of the reflect they have. I might still main bear but prot warrior looks really tempting as a main also
Is storm and steel really useless?
It's not as good as any of the options it's competing with (it may not even be good, getting a second charge of Ravager isn't worth the -30% damage on it; the rage might be useful but I don't think it's worth the damage loss). Nobody plays it currently and I don't see that changing in TWW without some big tuning adjustments.
@@ThordrenekGaming soo weird that they basicly nerfed that path of the tree since it has been dead for 4 seasons
Yeah I don't get what they're trying to do there. The Warrior and Prot trees feel fine to me though, so I won't complain too much about it.
my eyes are hurting me from watching this abomination of a talent tree :)
Final thoughts after the stream? :)
The more I play Prot Warrior and BDK the more I love them. Both are fantastic right now. Any particular questions? :)
@@ThordrenekGaming I was just curious! I was considering playing prot warrior so I watched your stream and it seemed fun, wanted your thoughts to confirm! ;) Thanks for the vid!
Right on! I've loved Prot Warrior every time I've tested it on the beta so far. It's very tanky and Mountain Thane remains my favorite hero talent tree (maybe it's just a bit on brand, haha).
druid of the claw is BS, for it 2 be good you need to be doing more damage than an other tank by 30% or more, but thats not what you will get, it will do high tank damage, but not anything special, after a patch or 2 of no one using it, it will get buffed to do what it should have always been doing and if you are lucky you will get a patch where its the best dpsing tank, but probably not even that, in stead you will get the buffs to druid of the claws a few months into a patch and it will get nerfed b4 the next patch comes out.
I think that's a fair take.
Seriously? The class treee is better? Your lost having to take. 3 pt node for throughout it and gained 3 2 pt nodes you are forced to take. The pathing in way worse and the ONLY benefit this new tree provides compared to the old one is letting us pick up decurse easier and 10% more dr on barkskin. That’s it. Otherwise it’s the same talents. They force us to pick up damage for fillers and 10% bear form health which they nerfed from the base kit so we are less strong without them. Going from 100-80 and being told you can spend talents to get back to 100 isn’t an improvement. Nothing done for the spec tree yet. Zero Hero talents are bland with little to not visuals or interaction. Have dead hero talents like 5 sec off pulverize. Have cat shifting that isn’t worth the GCD for damage and a moon bear that forces you to take a capstone that still does shit damage to function. Yea….. this is not ok
Oh I definitely am not trying to say that the spec tree is okay or in a good state, I'm just of the opinion that it feels even worse in the current state in Dragonflight. I did say that I believe it needs a full rethinking from the ground up and I stand by that. The spec tree likewise needs major changes. I do like what they've done with Elune's Chosen. I get that it's not as visually exciting as what some of the other specs are getting (though many are pretty visually underwhelming, at least among tank options), but the gameplay does feel pretty good to me. Getting to use Lunar Beam and feeling very strong while it's up is fun IMO.
@@ThordrenekGaming The hero talents function, ok, but they are barely interactive at all and just passive bonuses. Lunar Beam is the only on use, and it is buried at the bottom of the spec tree AND still does nearly no damage. It is a minor defensive boost on a relatively short CD, which is good, but needs more. Bear especially, but Druid in general, needs alot of work and I can only hope they get it before TWW.
I totally disagree, What I hear you say is that you want everything combined so you can choose everything, instead of making your build specialized, I like the way they make you have to choose. Just being able to choose everything wouldn't be fun. Quit Min Maxing, Its a Game Not a Accounting Spreadsheet
I think adding in the actual numbers that I find frustrating would have helped for context. The redesigned Blood spec tree can take 10/13 talents in the capstone area. While you can't literally get everything, it feels like you have the freedom to take what you want. Guardian on the other hand can only take 10/18 leaving much of what you would like to have in most builds unavailable. Maybe this is a "grass is always greener" thing, but it feels bad when you can see other specs not having to omit very important talents from their builds.
That's Why I don't play other specs, you cant customize to your liking, they don't have a choice, its here is what you get now go Play, With druid it is making the choices and customizing. playing around with what works for you and having fun playing your class, Not just looking at what makes number higher and Everyone has the same Talents because you only have a limited choice.
I main bear and i think the hero talents are dull and boring compared to other tanks they could of made some really good around some of the dead talents in the spec tree IE pulverize but they continue to go back to the same thing and thats moonbear which is stupid ontop of that the spec tree and class tree seem to have been made by someone special, Locking Stamp roar behind a talent you dont even need to take now since enraging is gone is idiotic as you said why the fact the still have beserk over 3 talents is beyond me
i also just miss playing with adaptive swarm as a bear
I'm not sure the argument to be made is "We should be able to get everything we want", because that logic doesn't work for the design goals of talent trees. I think a better way to word this would be that any defensiveness that bear requires to be on par with other tanks, and any talents that augment abilities that bears use in either build NEED to be easily obtainable. They cannot separate augments/defensives tied to Thrash if both builds value that ability equally. Additionally, talents below gate 3 I believe are meant to be difficult choices, but many of them seem to be sorely needed to both make bear feel good to play and keep it above the baseline needed for tanks to survive. At least one of them in my view (Pulverize) is not powerful enough when compared to others in its final row to be there. Move it higher. I agree with combining all of the Berserk talents. Separating them seems arbitrary and unnecessary. Finally, easing talent pathing by consolidating talents and doing away with certain 2-point talents by reducing them to 1 could help you guys tremendously.
Yeah that's a fair point, but for the sake of comparison Guardian has 18 points to spend in the capstone tier, Blood DK has 13. The difference in how the two trees feel to go through is pretty dramatic. The other tanks are kind of in between but the Guardian tree in general just feels very bloated. I think I agree with you though and the way you've phrased things is definitely more fair.
i feel like the class tree suffers from having 4 specs to account for...since no one plays bear or cat they may as well recombine them
The first part of this I agree with. I'm not sure the answer is to recombine feral and guardian. They moved away from that for a very good reason that still makes good sense today. I'd suggest a more radical alternative: Make separate class trees for each spec. Start with 2, a dual cat/bear class tree, and a dual resto/balance tree. When you change specs, the talents on the class tree change too.
Also hard to do with resto wanting to cat weave (hate this play style), could work though and make resto do Boomie weaving which I'd find much more accessible, I'm too trash to try heal and cat weave lol@@lexiconprime7211
Other class trees have basically the same dilemma but with 3 specs and have no issues whatsoever. Imagine if All warlock specs had to go through "Shadowbolt" (or "Curse of Agony") talent in their class tree even though its baseline iconic ability for Warlock, even destro would have to take it even though it uses incinerate and affliction would probably still talent into Drain Soul in its spec tree. This is the situation with Druids and things like Rejuvenation or Rake, Rip, Ironfur, Remove Corruption...jesus this list goes on and on :D I kinda understand they wanted to simplify druids spellbook maybe for new players, I dont know, but it doesnt work.
Bears need solar beam . Also agreed on the talent trees being a mess.
lazer bear inc
Excellent video. I agree with you 100%. Bear druid even on live, is not really that tanky in a reliable way. Requires allot of CD shuffling. And the constant spamming of iron fur...Oh god.... I actually find brew easier to be honest with you, prot warrior included. bear can be so spiky outside of ideal set ups. Brew I just do my damage rotation and pop a purify lol. Bear druid I always feel like I'm on the edge. And you can't even see your mog unless out of combat in your regular form. i awnt to see what I'm earning.
Elune's Chosen talent build I've been using: www.wowhead.com/beta/talent-calc/druid/guardian/elunes-chosen/DAQBAUFAiFUFERRKlQFBQOVFEVSgBUkVAVQVBAEFVVUCFQ Druid of the Claw talent build I used: www.wowhead.com/beta/talent-calc/druid/guardian/druid-of-the-claw/DAQRAUVAiFUFERRKFEFBQLVFEVqlRRFQZBAEFVVUBU
Yeah I am switching to Brew in TWW.
Great vid m8. Bone dust brew and white statue were very clunky. Chi wave going passive i thought was great but i forgot its how i pull split packs etc... i never liked chi burst but I'm sure one of the hero talents require it?
Hey thanks for the comment! There's two talents on the Master of Harmony tree that interact with Chi Burst, but one of them is just a damage buff that also applies to Chi Wave, and the other is on a choice node where the other choice doesn't interact with it. Optimal use of Chi Burst with both of those talents might be the "best" choice, but I don't think it'll be so far ahead that it's required at all. There's one talent on the Shado-Pan tree that gives some healing based on damage done by Chi Burst, but again it also applies to Chi Wave (and Expel Harm too), and that one is also on a choice node so you don't have to play it.
I showed the talents I've been playing in the video but wanted to put the build here for reference too: www.wowhead.com/beta/talent-calc/monk/brewmaster/master-of-harmony/DAQAFVREVRFEFUUSBkFDAFFPVFVVAVBVBUQFRVQCBBEFVVUCAQ
It's a shame they didn't figure out a way to make Bonedust Brew work. I think it could have been a power integrated with keg smash or another rotational ability. Something like "after using X many purifying brews your next keg smash causes Bonedust Brew" or something. I loved the ability so much in Shadowlands, but the button bloat of Dragonflight for Monk really put me off Brewmaster.
Bonedust brew burst windows in Shadowlands definitely felt really good, but several things definitely had to go in Brew's arsenal. It felt like it had a more complex rotation than many DPS specs in Dragonflight, heh!
@@ThordrenekGaming yup. Monk had just an absurd number of active abilities. I respect anyone that was able to keep track of them and execute their rotation.
Another fantastic video! Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Thank you! :)
Good video, very informative. Have a subscription and a like :) Looking forward to the druid video!
Thank you! Gonna be working on it tonight!
Heya brotha thank you for this! Mind sharing a couple talent set ups youve been testing or trying?
Sure! I'll include this in a pinned comment too, but here's what I've been playing most often and really enjoy: www.wowhead.com/beta/talent-calc/monk/brewmaster/master-of-harmony/DAQAFVREVRFEFUUSBkFDAFFPVFVVAVBVBUQFRVQCBBEFVVUCAQ
you should rotate your intro to emulate different wow content creators...
What do you think of brew vs blood? I alternate between tank and dps, and am sooo torn on what to play. Ive usually mained dk but monk is looking cool
I really enjoy both but they have almost opposite playstyles. Blood takes huge chunks of damage and immediately heals them back up, Brew takes almost constant but extremely steady damage and is able to do some self healing but will eventually die without some minor healing. I REALLY like the changes both of these classes/tanks have received going into TWW so far.
This is a great video, I’m leaning towards brm or prot war at this stage for tww and haven’t tried beta so these are helpful
Thank you! Glad you're finding these helpful. It's hard for me to pick between Brew, Prot, and Blood DK. I think all three are looking pretty good :)
@@ThordrenekGaming im trying to choose among exactly the same specs. gonno be rly hard.
so happy about the button bloat going down.
Even just removing a few buttons honestly feels so good for Brew. I love the spec and it's in a great spot right now!
🔨 <3
I subbed but i'm sad you haven't done a video on Guardian druid yet 🙏😥
Thank you for the sub! Guardian will be coming in the next few days, I've had a crazy week but will have time to get Brew and Guardian done soon :)
Ive started playing and learning tanks specifically for this expansion my prior experience is literally melee dps all the way back to Wrath where I was prot warrior. So havent tanked in 15 years or so and my first steps into testing m+ i felt like I was dying a lot in +4's what are some beginner tips for survival as BDK learning etc?
Thanks for the comment! As a BDK the biggest thing is to track your runic power closely and learn how and when to Death Strike. If you have enough RP to Death Strike, you're not in too much danger. Keeping Bone Shield up without overcapping on charges is important too--Heart Striking as much as you can will give you more RP than Marrowrend, but you do want to keep your stacks high with the 4p set bonus. Also, you can be pretty aggressive with using your cooldowns, Vampiric Blood and Anti-Magic Shell will be up for almost every pull. Hope this helps! I've been loving BDK so far but it can feel squishy if you're not prepared.
@@ThordrenekGaming Thanks heaps! I definitely have plenty more testing this weekend to practise.
Whirlwind should be fury only at this point. Even arms it turns whirlwind into cleave now and you can no longer use whirlwind and cleave at the same time as arms. I’ve said this for years as I play all 3 specs and have for years prot uses revenge fury uses whirlwind and arms is cleave they should just be baseline for the spec at level 10 when you spec into either one of them. It gives you only that skill for that spec. It makes sense and helps new players know how to aoe better as that spec that they are!
I really like this idea!
What's a prot warrior
Thoughts on demon hunter after sigil nerf? If you've tested of course.
I haven't tested DH since the sigil nerf. I'm planning to do a full video on VDH after I do the Brew and Guardian videos though!
They realy should fix prot pali heal , cause the scaling with the current hp doesnt do it , they messed it up , pali right now just need haste and world of glory heal increase and it can compete again with other tanks , i hope they adress this issue cause the class feel very fun to play specialy cause of the amount of utility you can bring , i was able to heal people and myself in DF , and felt completly in control on my runs , if someone mess up or everyone got very low i could easily top my healer so he can focus on others , thats the best thing about pali , i don't realy care about the rotation , i just love the utility it can bring to every scenario.
I definitely expect a big tuning adjustment for that. Prot Paladin doesn't really have an identity with very weak healing.
They should fix a tank so it can heal people in the group. Literally the antithesis of a tank.
@@Jisei13 thats the nature of prot paladin , always was , its a fantasy game not a job , all other tanks have self heal , what u on about lol , dh can self heal with orbs , dk can self heal to full also , monk have tons of shields and sustain , warrior is very bulky that he takes almost no physical damage with ignore pain and critical block , and paladin have 60k increased armor ? yeah sounds fair, also forgot that druid that have also huge heal %
@@sharkstaint1373 I didn't mention self heal for palas but all tanks so half your paragraphs irrelevant but also tanks shouldn't heal DKs maybe as it's their entire mitigation but there's no reason for tanks to heal at all.
@@Jisei13 so your telling me my runs depends on how good a healer is ? its a very bad take lad , look at tanks in gw2 and ff 14 , all have self heals and none need healing almost , i respect your opinion , but its very wrong.
Of all the tanks so far, which do you think overall does the best damage? TY!
I haven't done a very good comparison, but I've done the highest overall on Brewmaster so far.
I've mained prot warrior (and when dual spec was made available fury too) for 19 years now even when its "weak" I still play it and never had an issue doing any content, the question for me is what hero talent tree
I like both a lot but I think Mountain Thane will probably be better, especially in season 1, because it increases rage generation pretty significantly. Also it looks sick!
I main a druid and it feels awful on beta. Spec and class tree need reworking and Hero talents are dull and boring im at the point im likely to run no hero talents when release hits
Yeah the Druid trees (no pun intended) need a lot of love. The Guardian tree in particular is pretty awful still.
@@ThordrenekGaming Really? I found specifically the chosen of elune tree to be really awesome! Just flexing into any arcane increasing guardian talents that you can and it is so much fun honestly. (I can't speak for the other specs) but specifically chosen of Elune was one of my top 3 tanks.
I think the end result is fun to play, and Lunar Beam being a viable option is pretty cool, but the fact that you can't really get anything else in the capstone area feels pretty bad when you look at what the other tanks can do in their trees. I'll definitely go into more detail and what I'd like to see changed in the Druid video :)
@@ThordrenekGaming Looking forward to that video. I don't necessarily mind the inability to flex into different sides of the tree though. I kind of see what they're doing with bear which is left side is the Physical side vs right side is the arcane side. It builds the flavor of bear a bit more. When I was playing Elune's chosen I felt like a literal arcane bear kind of. I wish that they would change the animation of Thrash when you choose the talent that turns it into arcane damage - but other than that I felt like a literal juggernaut of Elune. Vs the other side of the tree can be used with wildstalker which is a much more physical damage playstyle. (also thematically cool). But when you think about it, a blood DK is always gonna be a Blood DK. Sure there are differences in the hero tree, but the base Blood DK doesn't have much variation in flavor like that.
I wish they reduced button bloat a bit.
This is a valid concern for Prot. I love all of the CDs it has access to though.
@@ThordrenekGaming they should stay, I don't want to limit players like you I just want some passive options for those active buttons
1. the problems regarding protection warrior are mainly initial aggro. the target that you missed with thunder clap, will have already picked off an ally of yours by the time its cooldown is refreshed. extremely punishing and especially so in the level of player moralization. you give up with warrior mainly because every single newly pack of mobs requires additional effort to threat startup. 2. the most important bullet point is the sovereignty index of the tank class. by that i mean the staple element of tanking that has the highest uptime and contributes the most to your tanking agency, meaning ignore pain healing, shield block, indomitable healing, and among that, every single other talent that reinforces these 3 elements. ive seen too many warriors as a healer either be absent from mythic plus in general, or being rickety and getting exalted status with the ground.
It's definitely higher effort than some of the other tanks. I like making use of Heroic Throw while rounding up a pull, especially if there's a mob that will be a bit outside of where I plan to stand and open with Thunder Clap. Something like opening with HT on that mob and then charging to another can give enough snap aggro to ensure someone else doesn't get destroyed on pull. Warrior is definitely more dependent on the healer than some of the other tanks, especially if there's sustained magic damage or bleeds involved, and a lot of less experienced warriors probably spend too much rage on Revenge and not enough on Ignore Pain. I think it feels very sturdy though as long as you're keeping Shield Block up as close to 100% as possible and using most of the rest of your rage on IP. Thank you for the great comment! :)
Can't decide between prot warrior and brewmaster monk! Looking forward to seeing your video on brew😊
I'm a long time Brew fan and I think that video will be next :)
Prot pally and Bear both feel awful on beta. If i main bear again i will play bear without hero talents both are dull and boring along with the spec tree is pathetic. The class tree to have to pick Cyclone and soothe just to be able to get stamp roar is stupid blizz have no idea and continue to make bear dull. They could do some amazing things with pulverize or something like that which is a dead talent but dont.
Yeah the spec tree is in a terrible state for Guardian. While I think the class tree is much improved from the current Dragonflight iteration, it still needs a very serious look as there's way too many wasted talent points, and I think a tree as bloated as the Druid tree is should have no two-point-nodes at all.
Hands down one of the best summaries of a tank spec for the war within! Exactly what I have been looking for. Do you plan on making one for each tank class? Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I am planning on doing this for all of the tanks, but I need to put in more M+ testing on the remaining four. I was hoping I'd be able to do a lot of Brew and Guardian testing this last weekend but M+ was not open on the beta unfortunately.
@@ThordrenekGaming More than welcome! I look forward to watching the upcoming videos once released!
I picked warrior just on class fantasy a while ago and I'm very happy to see it's a contender for one of your favourite tanks. I was not expecting that! I just didn't want it to be bottom of the pile as I pug and that makes getting in to dungeons hard.
Issues still remain, warrior brings very little to the table in terms of pugging m+. If mobs feared you a lot and thus risking pulling more packs then warrior with berserker shout would be desired but currently in beta its good because of numbers and we know the drill now. Warrior brings nothing but output, other tanks cry all day, warrior gets nerfed and stays that way intil next expansion. I have 0 faith in blizzard in this regard, DH remained top pick since forever and they did nothing about, they even admitted in recent interview that they tune things around raids and few top mythic raiding guilds. I wanted to main a tank 1st time ever but with these new affixes...I dont know. Mountain thane looks very good, ill probably play that no matter the performance.
@@MrSherhi how high rio are you looking to get to?
@@AAKhanivore no specific goals, I will see how far it goes. If it doesnt work out I will go back to maining a healer but just by looking at these affixes I will probably grind solo qeue RBGs
To be fair here I'm not really focused on tuning or number comparisons yet; I don't think tuning has really been done yet, but Prot's toolkit feels great IMO and the spec just feels fantastic to play for me.
@@ThordrenekGaming you are focussed on the right things. The tier list merchants are selling snake oil until numbers are locked in and even then things can change.
we can have a competition to see if we can have more warriors or paladins in our raid group...
All plate raid group go.
Hey I’m curious what resolution are you playing at? 😅
Hey Thanks for the comment! I play at 1080p
Oh my god, I just realized that the warrior tier set shoulders + helm combo, from behind and above, look like a dead spider and I can't unsee it.
It fits with the raid! haha
Co-main lol, prolly whats gonna happen for me. BDK and Warr are the same feels for me as well. Bear is right up there though! If they end up updating bears arcane animations....miiiight be going fuzzy wuzzy for the expac at first lol
I really want to like Bear but I have some major gripes about the spec tree. I'll elaborate on that when I make the Guardian video :)
Hey everyone, I realized I haven't been including the talent build I've used in testing in the videos. I'll try to do that for the remaining tanks, but here's what I've landed on as my favorite build from testing so far: www.wowhead.com/beta/talent-calc/warrior/protection/mountain-thane/DAPBUFBVFUgUVCaFBQCUQNVVFERBVFVZVFQCREEFVVUCAQ Thanks for watching and hope you all find this info helpful!
This is awesome thank you!
fun keys. Gurthquake arises!
I watched to the end hoping you would show the talents you were running but then the sad face came when this did not happen.
Ah sorry! With the changes made to the spec tree with this week's build it's not possible to run the exact build I had been, but I think I would start with this now: www.wowhead.com/beta/talent-calc/death-knight/blood/sanlayn/DAPRVQEEERUVBVFZkUAOVVhFQVRFRBEUVRBQEFVVUBV If you don't need Gorefiend's Grasp, I would drop that point (and Tightening Grasp) for Voracious and Bloodshot: www.wowhead.com/beta/talent-calc/death-knight/blood/sanlayn/DAPRVQEEERUVBVFZkUAOVVhFQRRBVBEUVVBQEFVVUBV Hope that helps!
Also Voracious might be better than Umbilicus in many situations. I want to do more testing with those when I circle back around to blood after testing the other tanks more extensively.
@@ThordrenekGaming Thanks a BUNCH for that!
